Re: European Youth Chess Championships 2013

Could I ask everyone who is reading this thread, to wish the whole England team the best of luck either via a PM to Jim, or via the twitter feed he referenced in the first thread. Also please use this thread throughout the tournament for positive comments so the players know they are being supported...

Re: A possible record established?

Have any of these family teams had three generations playing in them?

Re: European Youth Chess Championships 2013

As well as the players listed above, the under 14 section also includes the following players who are active in English tournaments and representing other countries. Guy Moss (ISR), Sebastian Mihajlov (NOR), Rhys Bennett and Owen Bennett (WLS). Svetlana Sucikova (SVK) is also active in England and p...

Re: Jack Rudd's candidacy for NED: Q&A thread

Sean - When I said get your facts correct, I should have said get your assumptions correct. Your assumptions were wrong, but I cannot prove it without making public the private message I sent to Jack. I am sure you would agree that what I write in private to Jack should stay private between us, and ...

Re: Jack Rudd's candidacy for NED: Q&A thread

Sean - Please can you get all your facts correct before suggesting I hang my head in shame. I raised Jack's illness in a Private email which I believe is entirely appropriate. It was Jack who partially disclosed the contents of that email in this thread.

Re: Nominations for the elections at the ECF AGM

I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I think this the first time since Martin Regan first applied that there are four contested elections for Directors. Can someone please organise some hustings before the big day as there wont be enough time at the meeting to give all their election...

Re: ECF Reporting of Board meetings

I dont understand why there has to be a delay of a month or more before publishing redacted minutes. If there were appointments for particular positions discussed, then there needs to be a delay of say 24 hours so the applicants can be told in person if they were successful or not. Once that is done...

Re: Jack Rudd's candidacy for NED: Q&A thread

Hi Jack Thank you for your honesty in your answers so far. I was disappointed at the lack of an election address as it puts your reelection campaign at a disadvantage. I hope you are able to write a report as NED totally separate to Sean's, and be at the meeting to present your case. That way you ca...

Re: Nominations for the elections at the ECF AGM

May I commend John Philpott in his role of Company Secretary in his openness on here and the ECF website about who is standing and what is happening. May I ask will all the Director's reports and papers for the meeting also be available on the website at the same time as the election addresses? Sinc...

Re: Nominations for the elections at the ECF AGM

The problems with Direct Member reps was discussed last year in a thread called Going for Gold. Just before the deadline for submitting motions to the AGM, I had the following exchange with John Philpott. Neville Belinfante wrote The rules should be changed as follows There should be one Direct Memb...

Re: Nominations for the elections at the ECF AGM

With several contested elections, I hope that candidates will include in their statements their views on how we may best encourage junior chess, specifically about the desirability of enforcing ECF membership on all participants of the National Schools competition at both Zonal and Inter-Zonal stag...

Can anyone just enter this (assuming they are not over-rated), or do they have to be nominated by their federation?

Re: Nominations for the elections at the ECF AGM

I'm disappointed that no-one has attempted to answer my Catch-22 paradox from two weeks ago. However the debate has moved on. Now we have three contested elections, the ECF have to arrange some hustings. There is insufficient time at the Council meeting itself for all the candidates to fully explain...

Re: Nominations for the elections at the ECF AGM

The Catch-22 of ECF Elections for Directors goes as follows Considering the current state of the ECF, a person has to be mad to stand as a director, Council does not wish madmen as directors. Therefore Council is obliged to vote None of the Above for all posts. If anyone knows a way to resolve this ...
