Re: Chess fraud in New Zealand

To comment on the original issue I'm afraid that for once I completely agree with Mr Giddens. I'm astonished at the amused/light tone a lot of people seem to have taken. The amount of money is not relevant it was simply blatant cheating. As for "actually .. i just wanted to play chess without media ...

Re: H.E.Atkins

You seem to be intentionally or unintentionally missing my point. There is a big difference between what you are saying (ie ''rubbish'' in an absolute sence) and what I am saying (ie ''rubbish'' compared to modern day GMs such as Mark and Glenn). I have made a big point of qualifying my use of the ...

Re: H.E.Atkins

But that was my point :? . No one ever refers to Roger Bannister as a crap runner do they? Or says that Stanley Mathews was useless. Generally people respect that these guys participated in a different era and don't apply todays standards to them as it's obviously unfair. So I think your statement t...

Re: H.E.Atkins

Keith has previously made his feelings about the older players clear :). This was obviously another little dig.

Re: H.E.Atkins

I took the trouble to play through about 20 of his games, and he was rubbish by todays standards - nothing like as good as Mark and Glenn. What to do? Any thoughts? It's a shame you feel the need to refer to someone who ranked 7 in the world in his day as 'rubbish'. Of course his games don't look goo...

Re: Discuss revised England teams for 2010 Olympiad

Apologies to Loz btw for the tone of my first post, I do appreciate his situation and thank him for his responses on the forum. I really don't think this situation should ever have arisen. If Malcolm Pein(or Adams himself) had simply informed Lawrence earlier that Adams participation was possible(in...

Re: Discuss revised England teams for 2010 Olympiad

Once the team is announced that should be it (and Loz could have said so and left it there), but Adams is 2700 so the rules are bent for him. I understand this, perhaps it's even correct. However my point was that whatever effort took place to get Adams to play should have taken place before the tea...

Re: Announcement – revised England teams for the 2010 Olympi

I know how much playing for England means to Stephen, wonder if Adams feels the same given his initial reluctance? Very disappointed with how this has been handled. You say you wouldn't have changed the team but by making Stephen aware that Adams is now available you are in fact obliging him to stan...
