Re: Open Letter to the ECF about junior selection

I think Peter Purland does a noble and responsible job for British Chess. He took over the job at a very tough time and has stood firm. I back him 100%. This does not mean I agree with all the policies 100%, far from it; but that is a healthy situation. Change will come and must come and discussion...

Re: TV Programme

I think to remove the post was the right thing - thank you.

We are addressing all our concerns with the programme but again not a topic for this forum

Re: Open Letter to the ECF about junior selection

My son won't be participating in any ECF selection tournaments in 2011; it is a very corrosive process, bad for his chess, and expensive and time consuming. Most of us are also more than capable of organising small groups to attend tournaments, with coaches if we can find a way to finance it. An EC...

Re: Open Letter to the ECF about junior selection

The post of junior director has become very difficult and an almost thankless task. No wonder very few people are willing to even consider taking it on. If change must be made, I feel at the very least going forward the job has to be split up into critical areas such as the following: Dear Andrew (...

Re: Open Letter to the ECF about junior selection

For what its worth our thoughts are:- a) Policy of sending one is crazy, its seems that a lot of other nations send considerably more than one. b) As a nation we have a lot of very good junior players who are excluded from selection simply because they do not compete or do not score high enough in a...

Two kids whose childhood had been denied them so they can end up doing 9-5 in some bland office, But they already have 2 excellent A levels (very few Upper sixth students do as well in further maths) so once they are teenagers and rebel they might decide to do something more constructive with their...

Alex. What a load of old tosh. Two kids whose childhood had been denied them so they can end up doing 9-5 in some bland office, Another on some kid who paints naff paintings and sells them to chumps looking for an investment. Honestly I've seen better scribbles on the toilet wall in Bells. Some gir...
