Both these phrases appear to mean "volunteers who have given up their time to be there" and also appear to be pretty poor characterisations of those volunteers.

Just as an aside, did anybody else find it a bit confusing that you have "regulation No. 1", which is then split into a series of numbered sections? (Also, the version I saw had DRAFT written across it, and probably shouldn't have.)

I was wondering, Andrew, if there was some kind of equation, some kind of way of working out who, exactly, is entitled to have a go at whom, how often and for what length of time. Such information would be tremdendously useful to many of us and enable us to plan our time more effectively.

For the record, player X beat higher-rated opponents on the board in rounds 1-3 and 5.
