Re: British Championships - Live Boards

It's a bit of a problem to have a pgn file empty of the actual games from yesterday when the live boards have moved on today's rounds.

Re: British Championships - Live Boards

The pgn for round 1 games doesn't seem to download properly. I get a file of 32 blank games (it's got all the player details, but no moves). Is something wrong?

Any chance of a playthrough?

Re: Worcester Tournament Issue.

At a tournament many years ago I found myself being given a bye when I had already been given a bye in an earlier round. This struck me as wrong at the time, but my knowledge of the pairing rules was (and is) pretty threadbare.

Don't remember him doing that when I played him.......
He did at Penarth week before last.

Re: British Championships - Live Boards

I thought (computer-unaided, so likely wrong) that Brown maybe had a draw with 56.Qb8+ if he wanted.

44...Re6 was a surprising move.

Re: British Championships - Live Boards

Thanks to both. I did look at the entry form, but it didn't help much.

Re: British Championships - Live Boards

I'm sure I should know this, but what precisely is the time control here?

Re: 99th British #Chess Championships 2012

Just a note on the website: I think it should be "the British Isles" and not just "British Isles". Could somebody amend?

Re: Best books by / about Karpov

Not long ago I reviewed a book allegedly co-written by Karpov and it would surprise me if he wrote any more than the foreword of the book and his signature on a contract.

Re: 99th British #Chess Championships 2012

It might be pertinent to mention that quite a lot of people have less money than they did some years ago. There must be people who would have been able to play in the past, who presently don't feel they can afford it.

Re: When Anteaters Attack II - Reform of the British

I do of course appreciate that it is easier to arrange imaginary sponsorship while writing a blog piece, or that matter a forum comment, than it is in real life. But we surely have at least to look at alternatives to the present set-up.
