Re: World Youth Chess Championship - 18th to 28th December 2

Welsh update!

I won :D hallelujah! Venetia won as well and on a brilliant 5/7 - possible record breaker if her form continues into the last 4 rounds!

Re: World Youth Chess Championship - 18th to 28th December 2

Quick update on the Welsh delegation. Venetia's amazing 4/5 run in the U8 girls was halted with a loss to a strong Polish girl in round 6. Still an amazing performance from her with 4/6 with 5 rounds to go. We have three players on 3/6, several on 2.5 and 2, and then there's me on 1! I'm having a bi...

Re: World Youth Chess Championship - 18th to 28th December 2

After speaking with the organisers, pairings on chessresults are correct - hopefully the official website will get them right at some point! The Welsh delegation had a tough start, with one of our players playing the U8 World Champion from last year. We scored 1.5/15, however we were outgraded by ma...

Re: 2013 British Chess Championships (Torquay)

I'm currently sitting next to the live games manager Matthew Carr. He is working frantically at fixing this game, and the moves are now up to date. Please ignore clock times for that game as they are inaccurate.

At this precise moment in time:
White has 36 minutes
Black has 42 minutes

Re: 2013 British Chess Championships (Torquay)

There were however several norm chances - us "patzers" at the bottom of the championship don't affect the norm seekers; they can drop their win against us if needs be!!

Re: 2013 British Chess Championships (Torquay)

Yang-fan could very much run away with the British U18 title, unless I pick up momentum on my glorious 1/3 :p

Re: Yorkshire Chess - British Championships Competition!

I'd planned to predict all my games as losses, so at least I get something from every game (2 points, a draw and a win), but I predicted I'd draw today, and I went and blundered a piece on move 8 [dippiest moment of my chess "career"]

Re: 2013 British Chess Championships (Torquay)

I can indeed confirm it was 22-15 to GM Keith Arkell, although it was 14-14 at one point.

Needless to say, they then managed 37 games in 1 hour - there were a couple of clocks that couldn't keep up (or their batteries ran out!) so there were 2 invalid games.

Re: GLORNEY CUP COMPETITION RULES

As a Welsh player I'd like to clairfy what we were thinking. From the start the Welsh team knew it was on game points - Stuart Hutchings knew after round 1. Throughout the tournament we were joking that it should be changed into match points, because that would've favoured the Welsh team. However we...

The results sheet failed to show Stephanie du toit as a female, so she won the u10 girls championship instead of Anita
