Re: British Championships - Live Boards

Dom Mackle vs Keith Arkell, no moves played. Has dominic not turned up or is there a transmission error?

Tried refreshing to no avail

Re: British Championships 2012 - Games

Matthew, the predictions seem to be broken for me, in that I can only select one result for all 32 games, not one result each

Re: British Championships 2012 - Games

On my database Roger Coathup has never played the English, and usually plays 1.d4 Keith maybe trying to transpose into the opening he prepared for against Roger's 1.d4
Again in my database, I haven't found Keith playing 1...f5, so I'm not sure what Keith has up his sleeve

Re: British Championships 2012 - Games

Interesting to see in the U16s that last round the majority of games were drawn, whereas in this game there were only 2 draws (although I really should've lost and I think white was winning on bd 1). It's an incredibly tight tournament now with 2 games to go, and will be an interesting finish.

Re: British Championships 2012 - Games

8.Nge2 was played in the game I found in my database, and white won in convining fashion. i considered Bxc3 earlier, but there was some reason which I can't remember for the life of me what it was! Maybe I was just seeing ghosts, I'm not sure. One thing about the f5 push which benefited black was th...

Re: British Championships 2012 - Games

In my opening this morning I didn't have a clue really what to do, played a weird move (f5) and then played chess. It makes playing chess more fun as well instead of just repeating moves Looks like a line of the Sniper. You will be in Charlie's next book. I knew at the board it was a sniper, but I ...

Re: British Championships 2012 - Games

Couldn't agree more with the opening theory debate. A couple of years ago I spent time studying the dragon, and wasted a lot of time which could've been spent on other things. In my opening this morning I didn't have a clue really what to do, played a weird move (f5) and then played chess. It makes ...

Re: British Championships - Live Boards

Seems to soon for the game Daniel Noel V Louise Head to be a draw. There have only played 17 moves. To me there is plenty of play for both sides in the game.Unless the board is showing the wrong position? I seem to remember they moved the pieces around after the game finished, but I'm not 100% sure ...

Re: British Championships - Live Boards

Good to see the younger juniors in the lime light on the live boards!

The website results and pairings for the U16s just links to the U13s results and pairings.

Not live boards, but has the british championship website reverted back to before the tournament began? None of the pairings/results are being shown

Re: British Championships 2012 - Games

Cheers Andrew! Jack Rudd does look lost; Jim has played very well, but Jack can pull swindles out of the bag conidering his speed.

Re: British Championships 2012 - Games

Thanks Krishna! I considered Bxc3 but thought Na8 would have both good play on the b file and also the surprise factor of it.

Re: British Championships 2012 - Games

I've been asked to post the following by Debbie Taylor (Adam's mum) in response to this. Adam's grade was posted wrong on the web-site (being 1815). I e-mailed the organisers several times before arrival to advise them of such - this was changed and then it reverted back several times. We were still...
