Re: Millionaire Chess Satelite Program

Thats a huge shame if its not all expenses. Someone said something on Maurice Ashley's status that made me think it was all expenses. Even so if its only paying the entry fee that is still 1 grand towards it.

Re: Bunratty Chess Festival

I expect I'm being dim, but how is the €45,000 prize fund built up? The prizes shown on the Bunratty website don't come to anywhere near that. Or does it include the money for GM etc conditions? Maybe it includes beer money for Simon Williams  Haha Loz, ;) Yeah it must be for all the free Guin...

Re: Chris Clegg

I remember playing Chris when I first starting playing Chess 4 years ago regular. He was the first player I ever played who had a grade over 150. He beat me just 2 days before this game but then I managed to get a draw. He happily agreed to go over the game with me and had to walk up the dodgy Couls...

Re: Warwick 2015

Hi Stewart. A 9 rounder tournament for lower rated players sounds great. Sometimes things lose their spark when they are every year. Sometimes you need to keep things fresh. I think re introducing something like that could be a great idea. Something like deciding the best u140 player or u120 player ...

Re: Warwick 2015

Yeah that would be a great idea. Anything to give more options has to be a good idea. I know many players who play the mornings and then go off and do there own thing because they dont fancy playing an Open. I am sure if an afternoon congress for lower rated at the British was experimented with it w...

Re: Warwick 2015

And Roger I did not know that about no qualification places from the Major anymore. Huge shame. To get 7.5/11 in that is a huge achievement and should be rewarded. Especially for how expensive it is to enter. I hope the entrance fee is reduced hugely to cater for this change. There remains one qual...

Re: Warwick 2015

It doesn't look like it Lee as the time table is already out - I'm torn between playing 2 games a day and getting taken apart in the afternoon FIDE Open, or just playing the U140 Champs (also going to do the Rapid and a Weekender - playing in the Open would mean taking a hpb in that on the Friday n...

Re: Warwick 2015

Anybody know who I should talk to about finding out if their will be afternoon sections for lower rated players? I have never understood why only the Major Open and the Main British and an Open is in the Afternoon. By creating a section for lower rated players they will make other sections stronger ...

Re: Golders Green FIDE Congress, 17/18 Jan 2015

Adam, any chances of creating an u140 in your events? From U120 and U160 is a huge gap. I have noticed so many non games in the first few rounds of the u160. Surely making a u140 will make all games more competitive.

Re: Fred Coombes

Great news Guys. Through an un-named contact who knows me and views these forums I have been contacted with details that may help hugely. He lives in a nursing home in Surrey, Mordon. Road name Eastway, The person believe the nursing home was called The Oaks. So I will now look it up on Google and c...
