Re: Future e2e4 events

I always make a point of thanking the organisers at the end of any tournament I participate in. It only takes a minute and means a lot to the people who give up a lot of their free time so that chess tournaments continue to live. I have to admit shamefacedly that I don't think I have ever done this...

RIP John. I played him a few years back at the Richmond Rapid , seemed a really nice guy. Saw him around after that and always had a smile.

Re: ABERYSTWYTH - ARE YOU GOING?

Lee Bullock >Its a shame the British don't have an afternoon event for lower rated players. Only the morning ones.'< I hadn't noticed that. I think they used to, which implies the support was poor. Why not write to Kevin Staveley and suggest it? The problem is that there might not be sufficient sup...

Re: ABERYSTWYTH - ARE YOU GOING?

Ah thanks Brendan ;) I did not see that tab at the top ;) Was looking on the left. Its a shame the British dont have an afternoon event for lower rated players. Only the morning ones. I see Paignton this year is introducing a morning event for lower rateds as before they only had an afternoon one an...

Re: ABERYSTWYTH - ARE YOU GOING?

I've looked online but it doesn't say where exactly the chess is being held so hard to work it out. Also a member who went to Aberystwyth University seemed to think it was a fair step. I understand the main activity is planned for the "MedRus" Conference Centre marked as "Penbryn" on the map here: ...

Re: WHO'S GOING TO TORQUAY?

That would be amazing Lara and make it very special for some of the players who never get that chance ;) And I know many people who would love to watch the lower rateds on the live boards rather than the juniors they hardly know ;)

Re: WHO'S GOING TO TORQUAY?

Lara is their any chance of the lower sections ie u140, u120 having the top boards on the live boards? Especially for the last few rounds anyway/ I see they do it for the juniors some years. Would be great to have it for the top boards of the minor sections and highers ones ie 160s and 180s? Thanks...
