CJ De Mooi Blatant untruth in New Audio Interview!

http://yorkshirechess.org/interview-with-cj-de-mooi/ I tend to lurk on this site and keep abreast of activity within English Chess. I was a rival of CJ De Mooi around 1998/99 as we competed in Minor tournaments in London. We became friendly, and he and his partner once gave me a lift back into Londo...

Re: Thanks for the help with rediscovering chess

I am intending to play at The Leyland Congress after a break of 4 years. I can't wait!! Just the small detail of getting those days off work!

I was showing a friend my chess book collection yesterday and I realised I have no books specifically by / about Karpov.

Can anyone recommend what they think are the best books by / about Karpov?

Re: CHESS PLAYING AND MENTAL HEALTH

I think most of us here on this chess dedicated website will be familiar with a certain level obsession about the game. It seems to be a common phenomena across people attracted to chess. With obsession comes the price of the neglect of other areas of life. Mental health could also be called mental ...

Re: Huddersfield Rapidplay

whilst yours truly was a queen up in an ending against GM Nigel Davies but my flag fell. To his credit, my opponent very sportingly agreed to a draw despite the big prize on offer, showing that good sportsmanship is alive and well! I am a fan of sportsmanship, but this really surprised me. If you f...

Re: at the mercy of the arbiter

I came to this thread a little late, but enjoyed reading through the debate about the relative strength of old masters versus modern masters. In the new version of 'My System', Aagaard ends the book with the following question - Were the strongest players of Nimzowitch's time equal to our own? It is...

Re: Rapid play event

In that case, why does it matter? The congress has decided to target a specific market: Those who want to play FIDE-rated chess. This is a larger market than those who want to support their local event. So the organiser(s) presumably took the decision to do this, knowing it would alienate people of...

Re: Rapid play event

How the hell does this popularise chess? There are many players who play in just 1 or 2 events per year. There are many curious players who are considering trying a congress. This puts a large firm barrier in their way. " 6 games of chess please " " That will be £42 young man" " I think i'll just p...

Re: Gibraltar International 2012
