Re: The British itself!
Just for the record, Oskar Hackner is not 180/190. He's 202 and has been 207.

Re: The British itself!
56...Rf3+ looked strong I think. But Ravi's played 56...Rxe4+ instead.

Re: Best digital clock
Our club recently went for the DGT 2010 limited edition. We think it's nice-looking, and it was a little cheaper than the standard model: http://shop.chess.co.uk/DGT_2010_Digital_Chess_Clock_Limited_Edition_p/cb04558.htm And as mentioned up-thread you may be able to negotiate a discount for a bulk b...

Re: Kings Place Chess Festival 15 June 2013
I've imported the pgn files Adam has posted into Chess Microbase, so people can play through the games online. (There's also an 'Export' button for those that would like to import the games into their own engine.) http://chessmicrobase.com/m/rd0iwpy6 Congratulations to Adam and his whole team on an ...

Re: London League divisions
Thanks for all the info John. I had never heard that some of those players ever played for Hendon, so it's good to be able to fill in a bit of our history. I only heard the sad news about Ken Davies - who I believe captained all our London League teams - when I took up chess again in 2008. From what...

Re: London League divisions
I played my first London League game against Dave Rumens in 1978 (Wimbledon v Hampstead). Since then I must have played over 250 games, mostly in the 1st Division. Looking back over the opponents I played in the first few years I am surprised to see how many are still active. Matches were played on...

Re: Another Membership Success
Summer leagues don't enjoy any great popularity in London and the South East... League players take a break from chess over the summer, or if they play at all, take part in Congresses. Not true for London. The City of London Rapidplay League, started 4 years ago, runs June - August and is very popu...

Re: Wood Green
are you referring to IM Gyula Meszaros? Yes. I have nothing against him or his team personally, just that in a sporting sense playing your strongest player in two different teams (especially against the same opponent) leaves a lot to be desired. I appreciate that not all clubs have a large squad of...

I've read online that White played 73% 1st choice Houdini-3 moves, and took no more than 10 secs over each move.

Re: Rule 10.2 (a) AGAIN then
The fact the position is a tablebase draw is surely missing the point. Polgar lost R vs R+N. It's happened to lots of strong players. I lost it under time-pressure after a 7 hour game at the British Championship - maybe I should've just let my flag fall! Should Black hold the draw? Probably. Would ...

Re: Should we scrap adjournments?
What's the situation if one of the players is disabled? What's the situation if both are disabled? If one disabled player, he/she can insist upon an adjournment, as Colin has mentioned already. There are other players in the Middx League who do this, e.g. it happened in one of our matches recently....
