Combine a Knight with a Pawn. The Knawn gets all the pawn powers, including promotion when it gets to the 8th rank!

Or should it be called a Pnight

How about a Mind Sports cruise: Chess, Bridge, Poker, Backgammon, whatever else you fancy, with tournaments and master classes to learn other Mind Sports.

Re: Book prices?

"How is it that some publishers charge considerably more than others?" The bit about niche publishing may well be true. I was invited by one publisher to write/edit a book on chemical names (after much thought it was called "Chemical Nomenclature"). The Publisher wanted a fairly "easy" guide and sa...

Possibly this was a misquote of the suggestion that grandmasters use 6,000 to 7,000 calories of alcohol a day when competing :D

Re: Victorian and Edwardian chess in the UK

As for Edwardian Chess... There's a small mystery from the round of your photo, involving Atkins winning on time early on in an apparently harmless position. I thought what actually happened was that his opponent had this on him when it rang http://3975b796b1617f99f8a2-6d968073d871ad4006ce10cffb7d0...

Re: Bronstein v Uhlmann - Zagreb 1965

Clicking on squares gives you short cuts to functionality.

Click on E8, and you will get the help. Select 'shortcut squares' from the menu there, and you will see e.g. B8 will give you the FEN string for a position.

Surf the net and click the square.
You will find what lies in there.

Could you put an ECF Forum Grading in the sidebar which would go up or down based on the number of arguments you win or lose :?:
