Re: Attention Congress Players

Thus endeth John Hickman's run of special prizes at the Guernsey International Chess Festival My comment was meant as a joke on the concept of plagarism by copying a comment that had already been made. I'm disappointed that it has been taken as a personal attack and/or caused offence, and I apologi...

"This work ethic is eased somewhat by recycling material from other persons publications without attribution along with past publications from ones own portfolio" :D Not, maybe, for a certain somebody who has been much featured in a particular blog recently  Plagiarism can be accidental.

Re: Football incidents

Sat down once to play at tournament game and some vandal had coloured the top of a white pawn blue. I swapped it with the board next to me but was seen by the player (George Coutts) and he swapped it back. "I don't want to play with this thing." I moaned. "Just sac it, it's what you do usually." he...

For those stranded in Jersey http://www.moneysupermarket.com/c/news/delayed-or-cancelled-flights-know-your-rights/0015292/ Seems you are entitlled by this EU judgement to a "welfare package" which includes meals and accomodation. Some players had this paid for them directly. I met two Dutch players ...

Re: Norwegian Chess Scene

There was always a large contingent of young Norweigians when I played at Gibraltar, but I think that was more due to the influence of Simen Agdestein, however I'm sure Magnus must have had a big influence on their enthusiasm.

An afternoon of getting bladdered, singing "One Joey Stewart, there's only one Joey Stewart, one Joey Steeeeeeee-waaaaaaart, there's only Joey Stewart...", hurling abuse at the arbiter, and having a fight with the Wood Green Massive. Hmm

Re: Candidate Moves in this position

Ah, I recognise that position from the Pirc, and would not go there as Black. Even though Black seems to have more that enough material for the 3 pieces (Q and 2p), it's really difficult to deal with White's initiative. I do remember trying to get g5 to trap the Biship to work a while back, but best...
