We were the only team not to lose a match all season!

Re: 4NCL North 2015-16

We (Bradford) got so close! We would have won the title had we managed to squeeze out a 4.5-1.5 win, the first three tie-breakers being equal would have led to the title being decided on the head-to-head match. I'm still delighted at how the weekend went for all three Bradford teams with 8 wins out ...

Re: Official comment on quality of Candidates Broadcast

Agon likes to try something innovative for each major event ( for instance, new design of pieces in diagrams so you can't tell them apart ). Perhaps in New York the clocks will be stopped for five minutes every half hour to allow for some words from the sponsors. This happens at the November Nine o...

Re: Computer Go

Lee Sedol did end up winning. It was noticeable how AlphaGo realised it was in a losing position and started to play for tricks. This is completely the opposite approach to chess computers who will continue to play "objectively" the best moves even if this leads to positions that are easier to play ...

It put me off watching the official feed and I'm already very interested in chess.

Apparently Lee Sedol has a winning/much better position in Game 4. Let's see if he can convert.

Re: 2016 Candidates Moscow 10-29 March

The ICC commentary is usually excellent. They've also been having problems getting the moves though.

What are AGON achieving by pursuing this course of action? They're just making it much harder for people to follow the sport they are trying to promote and get advertisement for.

Re: Fund raising simul

Credit must go to Dave Shapland for organising a great event. There were a tough collection of players for Danny to face off against, five or six 170+, a whole host of 140-150s and a seven-year old who looked incredibly promising! Danny played very well for the first 2 hours but started to make mist...
