It’s definitely not been the best ever day for Covid related news. You had Sir Patrick Vallance on morning television doing his best Bruce Forsyth impression on 1st dose immunity ...lower than 89%, higher than 33%. He guessed at around 50%. And the breaking news story on Sky this afternoon isn’t so...

Re: Cheating in chess

One might ask whether the near identity of the wording indicates there was collusion between the 4NCL and the ECF in the drafting. Or given that coincidence or otherwise underpins the detection methods used by Ken Regan and others, what are the chances that two lawyers acting independently would co...

Re: (Chess) Life Returning To Normal

He told me he has a colleague whose son at university was in the Pfizer trial (everyone was aged 18-25, according to the dentist). The lad does not know whether he has been vaccinated as he could have been in the group that had the placebo. Won't he be told eventually? If he's already had the vacci...

Re: (Chess) Life Returning To Normal

I thought the vaccine did not prevent you getting covid-19 or passing it on to other people. I thought it reduced the chances of you becoming seriously ill if you did catch it. If that's right, the Indonesian approach won't work. The BBC report on the Indonesian approach has Most elderly people in ...

Re: COVid19-What's wrong with UK?

Based on yesterday, it appears that a vaccine centre (not the large ones) can do 2,000 patients a week at least, subject to a sufficient supply of vaccines and patients and staff; not difficult to see there being a 1,000 centres nationwide (e.g. there's more than 2 in Liverpool area), and hence hitt...

Re: COVid19-What's wrong with UK?

Another example of the government "ramping things (deaths) up" due to cutting down (austerity). I think you may find that when there's an increase in the population, there's a parallel increase in the number of deaths When the age and size of the population is taken into account, 2020 saw the worst...
