Re: 4NCL NORTHERN LEAGUE
We're not talking about Sheffield and Stoke as potential venues
Harrogate and Pott Shrigley (Macclesfield) are more likely

You may have better things to do than read all of this, but the key part is at the start

Re: World Cup
I think Aronian has won the GP regardless of who wins the 6th event (if it happens)
The World Cup winner qualifies for the candidates
I think Kramnik has almost certainly qualified by rating after the Tal Memorial, so presumably Carlsen has too

Re: Brtish rapidplay live games is there a link?
The games are not all complete - Hawkins v Arkell in round 4 went on for a lot longer than shown - Keith won a piece, he told me, before blundering He lost last year to Hawkins just after I turned up, and he drew with Howell then too - from a brief chat with him, he seems more focussed on the chess ...

Re: World Junior Championship
My comments are merely a matter of opinion and others may disagree. I think the last big problem for David's game is the prevalence of serious time trouble and maybe a sports pyschologist could help here. However, one also has to accept that there is a big challenge because there are an awful lot o...

Re: World Junior Championship
Loz/Matthew Thanks for your comments I certainly wasn't criticising David, and am happy to hear he has a tough mental attitude and is trying to win every game It may be that with some extra help, he could break through to the next level, and given the success of the cycling team, it is worth chess l...

Re: World Junior Championship
He has lost again, which makes 3 on the bounce He's obviously very talented, but seems to have tournaments where he puts together lots of consecutive wins, and others where he has lots of consecutive losses - I wonder what the reason is, seems a bit more than just confidence Would someone like this ...

Re: 4NCL NORTHERN LEAGUE
Thanks Mick and Bob - I'll pencil in two provisional teams! Would you two be the likely team organisers? I don't know how far ahead the Woodhouse Cup in Yorkshire agrees its dates, but if the 4NCL Northern League were held on the same weekends as the rest of the 4NCL that should hopefully help with...

Re: 4NCL NORTHERN LEAGUE
4NCL North is a good idea - there is existing weekend chess in the Yorkshire league to consider, and Merseyside were discussing setting up something simliar a year ago In Manchester, we have some players unavailable for evening chess in the league who could play at weekends, and I imagine some playe...

Re: Can anyone tell me why Scarbrough second biggest weekender
A few observations as my chess job is to facilitate congresses in Manchester Bolton Rapidplay doesn't have an Open any more because stronger players don't turn up in sufficient numbers in mid November (which also features a 4NCL weekend, Preston Congress and the British Rapidplay) to justify it Ther...
