Re: Speed/Performance Issues

Carl The forum has been slower recently, particularly when Hastings live games were on I do notice many more new posts when I log on, however, so am pleased to see it has become busier (I was going to say more popular, but not sure that is the right phrase) Thanks again for all your hard work, much ...

Re: What did Martin Regan Do?????????????

Martin, I am somewhat mystified by this sponsor for the English National Championships. They are giving £100,000, but want no publicity - great, altruism at it's best. However, the money doesn't go directly into chess, 80% of it goes into the PIF for a later date. I find this all very strange. I h...

Have you asked the ones who used to enter, like 3Cs, and what response have you had?

Agree with that, makes life much easier

Any comment on the locations/venues to be used? All seem a long way away from my perspective

Mark

Game fee is not to pay for the games to be graded, but the way the ECF raise revenue to finance their activities

You and Sean may well be right that the ECF should spend less money - they should certainly burget for a fall in game fee revenue, as the credit crunch may see less game fee paid

Re: Nigel Short wishes Gerry Walsh 'Merry Xmas & Begone!'

So, can we leave out the personal stuff and actually put together a plan to do this? It's pretty simple - someone needs to stand against him at the next AGM. He was elected unopposed this year and last. In 2006 someone stood against him as President, and someone else as FIDE delegate. Both those op...

Re: Nigel Short wishes Gerry Walsh 'Merry Xmas & Begone!'

So let me make myself clear, I firmly believe changes at the very top of the ECF are essential if the organisation is to go forward and have said so many times but theres a way to achieve that; I believe Gerry should stand down or be replaced( along with several others) .. So, can we leave out the ...

New on the ECF website -

In order to be able to plan the production of Chess For Schools it is necessary to know the size of the production run. To that end applications for participation in the scheme will not be accepted after Friday 5th December 2008.
