A couple of years ago I persuaded three of my four offspring to join me in a Glasgow division 4 League fixture. I had to promise a number of incentives for them, just to enable me to state that I had fielded a complete family team. Sadly the opposition, a Hamilton team. defaulted the match entirely.

David, are you sure the board is the right way round? All the white pieces on the kingside and the black pieces on the queenside? Very peculiar position.

I seem to recall that the bit about 'the introduction of a source of noise' was added to the rules ayear or more after the rule about phones going off.

Every year many of the Oban Congress games are recorded via duplicate scoresheets and are subsequently made available on the CS website. A large number of the games of the player in question are available from this resource. No one has complained. This year was exceptional, the live boards were not ...
