Re: 4NCL Northern - Round 7

Both Bradford teams look forward to facing our respective opponents in Rds 9, 10 and 11. It will be great to play against some "new faces" and to also feel part of the overall "4NCL Family" rather than just the "poor Northern relation". If Bradford A do well and get promoted then that will be a grea...

Re: Death of a congress ?

Please note that the cancellation of this congress is not due to financial reasons but due to other reasons which I have privately discussed with Brendan and other entrants who's entry fee I have today reimbursed. My apologies once more to anyone who has been affected by the cancellation of this eve...

In all honesty we have not yet discussed this. It is on my agenda to discuss with my squad at Crewe later this month.

Don't count on it if my Bradford squad has anything to say about it :-)

Re: GM Needed for Summer Simul - Idle Chess Club

I guess I assumed that it would work as well this year as it did in the last two years with Keith and Stephen.

I would really appreciate you forwarding my inital posting to any GM who you think may be interested in this, I do not have a particular GM in mind. The bigger the name the better the event!

Re: GM Needed for Summer Simul - Idle Chess Club

Bit disappointed to have not heard anything from any of the GMs out there. In past years we have had a number of offers from people willing to play a simul against our club. From what I can gather there are 37 English GMs, we have only played 2 of them so far, surely one of the remaining 35 fancies ...

Re: BCM `Snub` Northern event.....?

A team is desperately needed from Sheffield who are the largest league in Yorkshire and 50% larger than Bradford which has 2 teams! 4 of the 12 players representing the Bradford DCA Knights teams this weekend are from Sheffield/Rotherham! I will not be able to run 2 teams again next season by myself...

Re: GM Needed for Summer Simul - Idle Chess Club

Hi Jack Thanks for the response. After playing you in the last round at the 4NCL Rapidplay last October (and getting my arse kicked!) I know that you would put on a good show. Preferably we do want to have a GM but I will definitely be back in touch if no one comes forward. If you are playing both w...

GM Needed for Summer Simul - Idle Chess Club

Idle Chess Club (Bradford, West Yorkshire) would like to organise a Grand Master simul match this summer, to be held at the world famous Idle Working Mens Club! We have done this for the last 2 years and it has proven to be a very popular event. In 2009 we played Keith Arkell and in 2010 we took on ...

1st Idle Chess Congress

The 1st Idle Chess Congress went really well this weekend. I'm sure that some of the competitors only came to say they had played at the Idle Working Mens Club! Although we were lower on numbers than expected due to the weather it was still a competitve and fun event. My personal thanks to those com...

Re: 4NCL NORTHERN LEAGUE

Also quite proud that 5 of our 12 players in the first weekend were u18 yrs old. This league is not only promoting fide chess in the north of the country, but is also allowing promosing juniors from these parts the chance to play at a higher level without having to travel a prohibitively long distan...

Re: 4NCL NORTHERN LEAGUE

Sean Would like to think that if we do secure a promotion spot then it will be on the strength of our performances in the last weekend. Anyway Atticus and Cheddleton will give us good matches before then, also Jorvik and Holmes Chapel look tricky. It does help though having the only titled player in...

Re: 4NCL NORTHERN LEAGUE

Great start to the Northern League last weekend. Redworth Hall was a very good venue, bit expensive for beer and food though! Bradford DCA Knights 'A' are up and running with 2 wins in the first weekend. Having looked at the Division 3 South matches it doesn't look like we are that far off the pace ...
