Re: London Chess Classic FIDE Open

Too cold to go to watch football today. Watched the last two hours of Bates game online. Time for a coffee break.

Re: Media comments on chess

Five live - Man City owners moving players & coaches (Viera) around the globe like chess grandmasters. Some reference to Arsenal owners being amateurs in comparison. Certainly missed a turning point & tactical threats some years ago. Is football ownership like some world championship correspondence ...

Re: Update from Shallow Throat

I'll also say adjournments have worked well for 100s of years (even at the very top levels) & some of our enlightened leagues (Thames Valley, Surrey, London) continue to allow them. Because we continue to take the views of our members. I think it was 20-25 years ago that the Surrey Chess Congress br...

Re: Update from Shallow Throat

Roger - re your reforms on how we play the games in the Thames Valley League. You are not a registered player & your club does not play. Not sure why we should consider your opinion as opposed to the votes at the meeting. We have voted on the matter (& more recently in September) against compulsory ...

Re: Candidates for CEO: suggestions please?

If Chris was not going to suggest himself he ought to go for Phil who if I'm correct got the 2nd highest votes. Personally I found the whole election process a shambles, so hardly surprising the politicians, Sports Council, & others think along those lines. Waste of our money too. Throw in a West Ha...

Re: The arbiter nexus

A bit abusive Paul. But there is a nexus. Some of us want to play chess & may or may not have to go via the nexus.

Re: New junior chess club in Harrogate

Excellent book & one point that RJCC as well as Junior Chess in Schools in SCCA got right was to make the club night a Friday night for matches.
Best wishes.

Re: Media comments on chess

Talk Sport - Kiev v Chelsea. "It could be a chess match, this". Better chances but still 0-0. Looking capable at the back, lively on the break. Twisted ankle on a big jump off a train - cannot even limp to the pub to watch. Hope to recover for chess match in London League on Thursday. But will take ...

Re: A letter to Governance

John thanks for the PM. I have let you know what I'm missing. Nice contribution by A.Carroll & seems that West Ham left all the action in the last few minutes - bit like the ECF meeting.

Re: A letter to Governance

Chris I will like to see postings, & talk to those that were there than those not. Views over the year ought to have gone into all the individual reports. But then again ECF airing this is public means that Government or Sporting Organisations & Legal are not going to take us seriously. As for the m...

Re: Sunday Sermon - The Number of the Beast

Bye Bye Miss American Pie. John Hope to see you at Kingston at new venue, if not at CCF. Seems strange (not a joke) that voting for none of the above is going to move things into 21st century. Not helpful Feel sorry for the coach/teacher/parent/captain having to explain to the junior that he/she has...
