Re: Media comments on chess

Maybe Grinder as well as we ought to be inclusive.
Not helpful for juniors that ought not be on those apps.
Still trying to work out how to get these pop-ups out of internet.

Though noticed chessboxing when I logged on at 1030pm

weird dream - arbiting confusion

I suspect this dream was because of too much forum, comic relief, rugby, football, cheese and diet drinks after a long week at work. Anyway it's the last round & about four hours left. The venue was split into 3 & any leaving meant leaving the playing area even for getting refreshments. I forgot to ...

Re: World Teams 2019

Ok low stakes 11 dollars Sunday Storm. 7pm WET The big prizes 21/14/10k (200k overall) about 23,600 players & prizes from 4600. the Sunday million is higher. Not to say that I'm playing - the hours to win will about the same hours as you play in a w/e congress & win. I've got some work meeting early...

Re: World Teams 2019

I think those that pay tournament fees to play in chess & are below IM standards are losing players in money terms. So may be low-luck, but stupid, unless they have another reason for playing the game - competition, enjoyment. That is also a reason to play poker. It certainly keeps my brain active &...

I prefer Jon's post but have seen it before.

Re: World Teams 2019

No. Not in this country or the Isle of Mann as far as I\m concerned. Anyway it's private. Poker is as much a game of skill as chess. So when I play on pokerstars I do not consider it gambling. Almost the same as playing tournament chess for money except for juniors. Then again sooner we ban all the ...

Re: World Teams 2019

England ought to win a medal. Egypt are the weakest with 1/6 but that is better than their 0 before China.

Re: Chess history trivia

Perhaps drawn games replayed because the tournament was in Monte Carlo. Beats turn of a card or spin of the wheel.
Maybe something to bring into league chess?

Perhaps his cricket ramblings are affected by this type of smoke.

Welcome to a hazy Warner Park, where local bushfires mean there’s a strong smell of smoke in the air.

Re: Pirc defence

Whilst Pirc is not played often at the top level, black is OK! at the level of those replying to this thread. I use it about twenty percent as opposed to eighty percent for the Sicilian. Sometimes I forget who I want to avoid playing it against. And I have lots more gaps in why I play certain openin...
