Re: July 2019 grades......

I think out early as they want us to register pay next years fee early with the blue beer voucher price increase rather than wait until 31/8 when our membership expires. This time last year 3 members of my club were aiming for minus 10 BUT 2 OF US are plus 10. The other not quite minus 10. Next year...

What temperature / humidity is it too bad to play

Just a thought having been given heatwave alert at work. Will it be a record.

They were not impressed by MY idea that they provide pools of cool water too cool our feet in.
Not sure why bearing in mind they are providing for adult customers.

Re: Running a FIDE rated RP tournament ?

I'm clear on that. I want to support John on his venture. Length and expense of an entire day is a consideration.
twenty five minutes plus five second increments is fine in my opinion and many others. Organisers may have issues in getting 12 plus hour lets.

We hope Lincs players get compensation. I hope you win the 101st Minor Counties. And I agree with Kevin about you deserving a medal!

Re: Running a FIDE rated RP tournament ?

John, most players will not want 12 hours playing especially if 2 hours each way travelling.

8 hours including fifteen minutes between rounds seems fine.

Wishing you all the best if you go ahead with September 14th.

Re: Finals 13 July 2019 @ Kettering

From reports the venue was excellent. Thanks to Mark and his team. I watched Serena lose in under one hour. Too many mistakes to win. Simona played the match of her life. But then to have 16 LIVE Boards to watch plus other match scores was excellent. Well played all. I feel for Lincolnshire we had a...

Re: Cheating in chess

i'm all for life time chess bans. Especially as we are not a sport in this country. As for reporting to the authorities for criminal offences in this country cameras in toilets may come up against unauthorised surveillance. Police officers have more important crimes to investigate. Let us try not to...

I'm hoping for October, if not by Hastings. If they really mess it up it will be May 2020 and that will be the last 3 matches in the season.

Re: Membership Query

It is five pounds up on last year so looks like gold is worse value than last year. my response is whether they go down in 20-21 and asked them to send a direct debit form so I an put in via my bank. Last year a phone call but at least not getting a call charge in excess of 3 pounds. I think gold ha...
