Re: FIDE Open London Chess Classic

Having lost to Martin in round one and more than 400 rating points difference how does that count?

Not that a qualification place is not deserved. He is an excellent player. And enjoyed his draw yesterday.

if I win my next 2 games do I qualify?

The fishy pairings ought to be on live boards.

Re: FIDE Open London Chess Classic

On the southwestern strikes the district line ought to be fine. I hope you can also drop in Nick F. I'm going to enjoy off peak travel, some leisurely bus journeys with visits to my parents. After the congress I have the opportunity to work from home. My work laptop will be locked away in the office...

Re: Repercussions / Fallout from FIDE Elections?

I know it is election purdah for the government at this moment so will not speculate whether we will be asked to boycott events let alone any financial matters for ECF. Sponsorship issues etc.

I think I'm robbed to pay 39 pounds in 2019 so will chat when I see you next.

Re: General Election 2019

in the Kingston/Surbiton and Richmond Park constituencies they will have to turn up to Kingstonian's match v AFC Fylde on 30th November. Football focus and all BBC coverage that day is live from Kingstonian. Clash with London Chess Classic but I expect the superhoops/brazil kits will progress to a p...

Re: FIDE Open London Chess Classic

All the Entries seem down on this stage last year but Alex thanks for the update and I'll leave the debates about rapidplay/ecf and standardplay/ecf to others. I am not expecting a 2300 plus opponent.

Re: FIDE Open London Chess Classic

It is appropriate to give this event a plug. The biggest and best chess festival in London. I'm looking forward to 10 days of chess and chess socialising. And taking an extra half day leave to drop into the London Chess Centre, buy a few items, say hello and get into chess relaxation from work mode....

Re: Chess club folds

I think its nonsense that chess clubs close because of league rules. but I'm glad closed chess clubs have come up again. I had a nice round trip through Surrey, Berkshire & Hampshire passing 4 closed chess clubs, 6 closed schools, 3 closed churches plus 100 closed businesses. A conference for educat...

Re: Shortest game

It was a shame that I did not see Stewart's short win. I was not strong enough to make our second team. That Wimbledon 2 won the match is some consolation to our team and I hope you both got back to see England win at football. My quickest win as white was some 30 plus years ago at a tournament in t...

19/20 season

I thank our Surrey captains for getting two teams out away to Kent on 19/10. Apologies to Kent for 6 short on 28/9.

Nick Faulks it will be nice to publish your game. if only because we were winning when I left.
