Re: Bob Long

Earlier this week, I received the terrible news that my old friend Bob Long had been murdered. Strangled to death in his own home. He was 74. It has been a terrible shock. Bob was a one-off, in the chess world a promoter , a publisher of eclectic material, and a bookseller, all on his own terms. I k...

Re: The ECF National Schools Girls semi finals Jan 2020

We are now up to 84 teams of three in the southern semi final.

Five teams in the north. Vast areas of the country unrepresented.

The closing date for entries in the south is 5th Jan. I’m willing to keep entry open for as long as possible in the north.

Teams of three, that’s all.

Re: A Christmas Quiz

Here’s a nice easy question.

How long is the shortest game which ends in ‘ castles queenside’ checkmate? Who wins and what are the moves?

Re: The South of England Junior Chess Championships 2020

Just a reminder that space is limited at Yateley Manor and that early entry is advised.

Entries are building nicely. Please check for the latest info at our website.

We do not want to turn anyone away.

Thanks.
