Last call for all schools to enter this event. Entries close in little over a week.

The northern semi desperately needs some support.

Thanks

Re: The South of England Junior Congress 2019

News has reached me that the West of England event has been cancelled. I am very sorry to hear this, but it does mean that there may be more entries for the South of England, particularly in the U11 section. Yateley Manor has an absolute maximum of 300 players on any one day, which includes the clos...

Only three weeks left until entries close. We could do with some more entries in the North!

Re: London Central YMCA (aka CentYMCA) Chess Club

Hi Simon I hope to be around for the 50th anniversary presentation. Speaking of memories ,whatever happened to Bob Pentecost? Of all the eccentrics at Centymca, he was one of the oddest. I’ll never forget that at one match, Bob was proudly displaying a set of photographs that appeared to show him wi...

Re: 2018 World Championship in London

The fact is that they are both petrified of what the other guy’s computer is going to come up with next. Look forward to faster and faster time controls in world championship matches. In the current case, 12 draws is a real possibility, if not favourite to happen!

Re: Eric Schiller 1955-2018

I’m very sorry to hear that. I think I first played him at Lewisham Cricket Club of all places, in one of Richard O Brien’s special events and then several times after. He was a frequent visitor to the UK between 1980 and 2000. A very friendly , many-sided man. Some well-considered words here: http:...

Re: World Youth Chess Championship 2018

Best wishes and good luck to all in Greece.

I’m guessing pgns of all games are readily and immediately available. If not, publishing current games of an event in progress makes it easier for opponents to prepare and puts our players at a disadvantage.

Re: 5 free plastic sets and boards for a link to https://chess4schools.co.uk

Does anyone know how to get in touch with Gareth Ellis?

A phone number or working email would be fine

He gave me an email address at the ECF AGM which rebounds when you use it. I have tried the google mail.com address without success.

A PM here would be fine.

Thanks, Andrew

Just a small nudge to schools-early entry helps us greatly.

Thank you
