Re: Director of Women's Chess

I think the new Director has two priorities above everything else. Firstly, to work with the Junior Director to get a suitable manager of Girls Chess in place. It is quite extraordinary that there is a vacancy in that department. Perhaps a suitable female candidate will step forward? https://www.eng...

Re: European Schools Chess Championships 2018

A report on round three from Sheikh Nasarullah: R3 report==== Round 3 had the most calm atmosphere so far, while the players where settling in chairs and straightening their pieces the hall looked in order, there was a certian calmness that could be felt. Once the games started our live boards were ...

Re: European Schools Chess Championships 2018

From Sheikh Nasarullah: R2 report=== With the first round behind them, the players and parents both seem to have settled down today. There was a little drizzle during the day in Krakow, but it was mostly pleasant. There was no nervousness of finding the correct lucky charm pens, getting to your tabl...

Re: European Schools Chess Championships 2018

Thanks to John Higgs for all that he does. We actually have five coaches here, with GM Jonathan Hawkins making up the team. The first round report from Sheikh Nasarullah ( Anum Sheikh's dad) below: 'After the opening ceremony and other technical meetings, finally the ESCC2018 commenced. More than 30...

Re: No Andrew

I’m also pretty clear in my mind that money from the British Championship budget should not be going to outside companies to produce a remote commentary , unless they can guarantee it will be exclusively British players who actually deliver the commentary.

Re: No Andrew

When we have so many very good British commentators, if the live commentary at the event is to be axed, to me this is a sad day.

Re: No Andrew

Going back to the commentary, is a Chess24 team going to
commentate live at the venue with full internet coverage ,which, frankly, the congress should have been having for years and deserves, or is the coverage going to be limited to a remote broadcast from Hamburg on a big screen?

Re: No Andrew

If the last post is true, I can’t help but feel regret about that development. What with the condensing of the tournament to nine rounds, the lack of evening events, the discontinuation of the cricket match and now the seeming abolition of the on-site commentary, the British has suddenly become a wh...
