Re: FIDE Rated In January NOT in March.

Yes thanks very much - I have now calculated what he should be: 1803 page.png Does anyone disagree with my calculations? I'm afriad I don't think I do. Sean, just on a point of order - is there a "don't" in there that should not be there. Should it be: I'm afraid I think I do. Makes more sense. Pau...

Yes thanks very much - I have now calculated what he should be: 1803 page.png Does anyone disagree with my calculations? I'm afriad I think I do. Part ratings do not last forever and the April 2009 part rating expired before he satisfied the rating requirements. As the player had not played enough ...

Re: FIDE Rated In January NOT in March.

I think I have sussed it, or at least found another problem! Martin Page appears to have played three rated events. Surrey Major in April 2009 where he scored 3/4 against rated opposition under his correct FIDE code of 418382. He then played in the Surrey Major of April 2010 and scored 0/3. This was...

Re: FIDE Rated In January NOT in March.

My copy of the rating list confirms that he was rated in January 2011, 1808. It seems to me that some event in 2010 has changed or been deleted.

Re: FIDE Rated In January NOT in March. Why???

FIDE have now removed the rating changes for unrated players, but it hasn't brought them back in as performances contributing to a rating. NO NO NO. You have missed the point as well - Sam Porter is rated and has been for some time. His games in the Surrey Congress 2011 have been wiped from this pa...

Re: FIDE Rated In January NOT in March.

What's going on, a number of players have been removed from the rating list. For instance Martin C Page: January 2012 entry 418382 Page, Martin C ENG 1865 0 1941 March 2012 entry 418382 Page, Martin C ENG 1941 When I investigated further I found his last game played in the Surrey Chess Congress 201...

Re: 99th British #Chess Championships 2012

Do we know yet who is maintaining the list of qualifiers?

I have outstanding qualifiers to submit but can't because, without an up to date list of currently qualified players I can't work who has made it through from my events.

Re: THE MYSTERY OF THE BLACKPOOL MINOR

I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that Steven Melia scored 5/5 in the Minor? http://www.ecfgrading.org.uk/?ref=176182B&listid=1676933033 He is currently ungraded but last held a grade in 2002 of 135 in old money. http://www.ecfgrading.org.uk/?ref=176182B That's about 150 after the rega...

Re: The end of the game

Assuming the facts are not in dispute (never a safe assumption in chess) and are as described, then it's a draw. It's not checkmate because white hasn't made his move yet. By not releasing the piece, he still has the option of choosing to move the queen elsewhere.

Re: Junior Concessions

The twist of logic is that most junior organisations probably would not grade their events under the existing planned requirements. But under the waiver many of them would and so insist on membership for their regular players. Is there any evidence for either of these assertions? The 1000 is indeed...
