Re: ECF Vacancies
No doubt Sean Hewitt would do an excellent job but it would be a no brainer for detractors to suggest a conflict of interest. I wouldn't do the job because of the potential for (or perception of) a conflict of interest. One of the roles of the IRO is to confirm the veracity of the event and clearly...

Re: ECF Vacancies
This would appear to be eminently sensible. Do we know what the downsides are claimed to be be if this change is made? The downside is obvious. To process an event for ECF grading requires data to be submitted as to who played and the result. To process an event for FIDE rating requires data to be ...

Re: e2e4 Amersham Congress : 18-20 May 2012
There is an unfortunate clash of dates on Saturday 19th May with the Quarter Finals of the ECF Counties Championships, potentially involving 784 players. If the Quarter Finals had been listed in the ECF Chess Calender when I scheduled the Sunningdale event 3 months ago (or even, if they were listed...

My analysis suggests that FIDE = ECF *8 +631

e2e4 High Wycombe Congress : 16-18 March 2012
We return to Uplands House Hotel, a superb venue just 5 minutes by car from High Wycombe train station. The hotel has bags of character and history as well as a modern feel following a refurb. We've booked the entire hotel for the weekend to ensure that we have sufficient space! http://www.e2e4.org....

Re: ECF Vacancies
I may respond to some of Adam's other 'inaccuracies' later but for now all I shall say is that the following is a complete lie:- The IRO questioned this practice with the organiser, asking him to explain the logic behind the decison. The organiser objected and referred it to me, together with the in...
