Although one can construct positions where forcing your opponent to retract an illegal does not lead to an advantage to you, I would think that it does in about 90% of cases? Whilst few games may actually go to adjudication, it would be interesting to know how many stop in the anticipation of adjudication and are then decided by computer analysis. Is there any evidence that adjudicated games (or games subject to adjudication, if that is the criterion) provide skewed or inaccurate results for rating purposes?
