Re: Welsh Chess Championships (and supporting events)

Roger de Coverly » Sat Jan 28, 2017 12:38 am I understand these will be taking place at the usual time (Easter 2017) and at the usual place (Park Inn Hotel Cardiff). Attempts to look beyond this at entry fees and hotel costs are thwarted by a broken link. http://www.welshchessunion.uk/2017-welsh-ch...

Re: Chess Prevention tax £ 8.33 a game

Mike Truran » Sun Dec 18, 2016 2:23 pm The current intention is that arrangements for congresses would remain as they are now. Thank you Mike for the quick reply, as a representative of leagues and congresses I'm sure all will be in favour of this. It'll be interesting by how much the £14k actually...

Re: Chess Prevention tax £ 8.33 a game

The Board accepted the proposal to introduce three free games per subscription year and abolish game fee. Leagues will be invoiced £25 for every non-member who plays more than three games. It was agreed that a formal proposal should be put to the Finance Council meeting. A possible 3 free graded le...

Re: Brexit in practise

Paolo Casaschi » Fri Dec 02, 2016 7:39 pm Good to buy now anyway. Next spring it will be even worse after article 50. But do not worry, shortly afterwards there will be a flurry of British startup companies taking advantage of the low pound and producing competing digital clocks. Of course it could...

Re: "SavetheUKCC" petition

Some regions stopped running their own county/regional championships as UKCC grew, they would only be bringing these back.

Re: "SavetheUKCC" petition

Revised bids were requested in order to maximise the revenue to HMRC. Bidding on : website, database of schools, virtually no other assets (few clocks & sets/boards) and alot of bad PR. Most of the work is done by local volunteers (teachers and then regional organisers), some Megafinal organisers d...

Re: Increment Time Controls in Leagues ?

Hi Gareth, I've been trying to contact you for some time by PM, phone and email, but no luck. Is your company still in business? Just seen this, YES my company is still in business but I've hardly been involved in it since May as the website accounts for about 99% of business. Been looking after my...

Re: "SavetheUKCC" petition

John Upham » Wed Oct 19, 2016 10:45 am A number of bids have been registered in compliance with the deadline. A veritable potpourri of names from the English and Welsh chess scenes have created teams of investors. It would have been interesting to take the business model into Dragon's Den! Some bid...

UKCC A future ?

John Upham » Sat Oct 01, 2016 1:43 pm I learnt today that at least six consortia have expressed an interest to the Trustee. One of the growing concerns of those that wish to include Mike in their organisation must be the recently lashing out type messages. Slagging off The Times of London was best ...

Lancaster School clubs - helpers required

There are a number of schools that have set up new chess clubs that could do with extra help and experience, also a few that are keen to start but don't have teachers with the relevant chess knowledge/skills. If anyone with suitable clearance is interested in helping on a voluntary basis with school...
