Going through some old Liverpool paperwork I found this obituary for Vic Soanes written by Alec Boswell on the agenda of the 1981 Liverpool chess club AGM which I thought was worth sharing. yes it will appear on the ECF calendar very shortly once all details are finalised. I does have the ECF seal of approval for the title of English Rapidplay.

Hi Chris No need to play c4 at all, this is the new English Rapidplay Tournament so yes the winner would be crowned the English Rapidplay Champion for 2017. Fixtures in the new junior league will be one game a month between September and April but dates and times of fixtures will be flexible and agreed between the two team captains for each fixture for any date in the month allocated for that game It is possible some fixtures would be played on a weeken...
