Re: Being away from the board.

Unless you wish to be accused of cheating, do not leave the playing area whilst it's your move. Afternoon ...

Re: A moral issue regarding an illegal move that benefits you

if youre oppo offers a draw and it's his move, you can force him to move 1st and then decide whether or not to accept the draw.

Thanks that makes it clear. For a second I thought you had to offer a draw then sit in your own time while your oppo thinks about it haha.

A moral issue regarding an illegal move that benefits you

Years ago I was playing a little kid aged about 13 in a match (although I would have only been about 24) and he made an illegal move that I could have ignored and benefitted from. I am white and my bishop was hitting the f8 square - but he kid decided to castle 0-0. I could now take his rook on f8 w...

Re: Being away from the board.

I did say excuse me then headed obviously in the direction of the toilet. Perhaps a warning/reminder would suffice. This was a simple 6 v 6 club game at Edinburgh uni so no arbiter was there. 2 team captains were playing though.

Being away from the board.

Just wanted to ask about being away from the board during a long game. Is the rule that you may leave your seat AFTER you have made a move and need not come back just because your opponent has moved? Or are you allowed to leave the board when it’s your move (you’re clock is running after all, what d...
