Re: British Championship Congress 2019

On the commentary it was suggested that next year's event might be at Great Yarmouth, Scarborough or Liverpool.

Re: British Championship Congress 2019

Looks like Lorin and Adam C Taylor have pulled out of the Championship. I think Adam has been struggling to find form in this event.

Re: British Championship Congress 2019

I do hope Charlie doesn't post on here. I totally agree that his behaviour sounds very poor. I would say this though, I think he has suffered some professional set backs and has been to a certain extent marginalized and alienated. I have a few concerns regarding his general mental health, and I hope...

Re: British Championship Congress 2019

The next 2600 is an interesting question. I tried to think of another sport where amateurs on the fringes of international class compete with hardened professionals. I thought of Michael Hutchinson in cycling time trialling, who was very dominant in domestic championships and very occasionally in hi...

Re: British Championship Congress 2019

Nice win for U13 Jacob Yoon against CM Thomas Villiers, who was last years Major Open winner possibly.

Re: British Championship Congress 2019

Looks like Chris Ward also blundered and lost from an equal position against WGM Toma Katarzyna, who beat Sarah Longson yesterday.

Re: British Championship Congress 2019

4.5/5. He's consistently the best U13 in an age group that has excellent depth for both male and female players.

Re: British Championship Congress 2019

I think Cumbria is perhaps more in the picture for 2021 maybe when a large hotel complex will be completed on the Rheged site, fingers crossed!

Re: British Championship Congress 2019

In boxing terms Charlie would be classed as a dangerman. He beat a couple of GM’s in the last tournament he played in too. Think he’s quite hard to pin down as to what opening he will go for on any given day either. I think there’s plenty of higher rated players who might not like that pairing.

Re: British Championship Congress 2019

Charlie Storey has run over GM Stephen Gordon in 30 moves. I noticed U13 Jacob Yoon is giving Malcolm Pein fits, and has pushed him into surviving on increment.

Re: Strongest U13 in England ?

Yes I think Hawkins by his own admissions is quite a laid back character, and I heard him marvel at the work ethic of say Matthew Sadler.
