Re: Champions' Names

I noticed 3 people called Patzer on the Fide rating list. Not champion names.

Re: Let's Bring Back the Old Rules

In the thread on Bxc6 in Spanish Stewart thinks 1.e4 e5 2.Qh5 Ke2 ? is possibly the worst ever move. I agree but 3.Ke2?? in the Centre Counter (Scandinavian) is another candidate. 1.e4 d5 2.exd5 Qxd5 3.Ke2 rnb1kbnr/ppp1pppp/8/3q4/8/8/PPPPKPPP/RNBQ1BNR b kq - 0 3 There is a legend regarding this pos...

I have played for this set up before with nc3 first moving into a Vienna. However many Alekhine players play d5 after nc3 and you end up playing e5 (exd is probably ok as well but probably less challenging)

Alekhine with f3

Apart from leaving a few potential holes around e3 and g3 if Alekhine players face this often and general experiences? 1. E4 Nf6 2. F3

Just curious.

Re: july grades

Nope he never played any of those people. In fact I think he hardly played at all and he is U100 strength. Bob Eames beat Dave Spearman that day on board 1.

Re: july grades

luckily he is a chuggle. a chess player that doesn't play online, tournaments, county games, just the odd club match and comes down the club regularly. Tricky if he wanted to enter say U120 section with that grade at the moment.

Re: july grades

If you are worried about a grade being too high, I'm sure we can find a few under graded people (mainly juniors) who could dent it. There is a person at my club whose grade is totally wrong and includes games that did not happen. He should be under 100 but has a grade of 165. I'm planning to arrange...
