Re: To the organisers of the U16 County Event today
Brendan - Andrew Camp mentioned it as a possibility a few posts further up. He said its early days though.

Re: To the organisers of the U16 County Event today
The logic of the 1 game waiver would be that its possible to put in a late or one-off replacement player to a team without having to pay £28. You could also draw the line at more than one game, but that's a matter of taste. 1 seems better than 0 though? This thread seems to have wandered rather far...

Colwyn Bay, Bangor and Caernarfon play in the Gwynedd league.
Llandudno merged with Colwyn Bay some years ago.

Re: To the organisers of the U16 County Event today
Yes Andrew C's post was brilliant. It's just people enjoying a game, a chat and a pint. What could be clearer.
Also, from the paper, 90%+ of the players are either in the ECF or WCU. So there's no membership dodging going on anyway, and it is a unique situation, so no big issues of precedent.

Re: To the organisers of the U16 County Event today
Why is somebody finding those remarks 'disappointing' an irrelevance? Surely there is a right to disagree with someone's post just as much as there is a right to post in the first place. Also, saying that a complaint would better be made be made directly to an individual on the day, rather than post...

Re: April Finance Council meeting
Speaking personally, I'm a platinum member (though I hardly ever play congresses - must have had a strange fit of altruism or weird form of status seeking at some point), but didn't even know that this forum existed until a few weeks ago, let alone what ECF meetings are when etc. Though I've occasio...

Re: Maximizing the Magnus Effect
There's St Olav in Rotherhithe, South London. There's also a St Olave in the City of London, but its CofE. Scotland is more fertile ground for Norwegians, due to the fishing and oil industries. Would there not be more Vishy fans in the UK, in spite of Carlsen's glamour? Watching the match on a big s...

Re: Holloid in Administration
If its any consolation, having only come to this forum in the past couple of weeks for the first time ( via Giddins blog funnily enough) and gone through some threads cold, that argument did seem pretty strange - and classic shooting the messenger / closing down dissent type behaviour.

Oh I see, stupid of me, my 12 year old son loves Borat.
Actually could we get Sacha Baron Cohen as our FIDE delegate? With respect to Nigel, Sacha would wind up the dear leader even more effectively perhaps?

Re: Holloid in Administration
Skimming through the old threads, it’s clear that there was significant scepticsm from early on. It appears that Andrew Martin was the first to set the alarm bells ringing, at least in this forum. A lot of the posts were cautious, no doubt for the reasons suggested by Roger, so it seems unfair in ...

Holloid in Administration
Not sure if anyone had previously spotted and posted about this - apologies if so.
An unhappy, but possibly not unexpected outcome.

Re: Membership Services
Apologies for being rather late to this thread; I’ve only just joined the forum. For background, I’m an average evening league and county hacker. As a reminder, the original question was “…. blank piece of paper. What would you like the ECF to do for you?†In general terms, my answer is, i...
