Re: French Defence
I had a look on the Ginger gm website and was able to watch a clip from one of the videos. It looked very good so I've ordered both volumes. I think I will enjoy them even if I don't get any better.

Re: French Defence
I have an older edition of Watson and find it very useful for its comprehensive cover. I do find it a bit impenetrable at times though. I notice the 4th Edition is out next month. I think I might get it, has anyone seen an advance copy at all? I've played the classical for a while but someone sugges...

French Defence
What books would people recommend on the French Defence? There seem to be so many on this opening it's difficult to know what to go for for different levels of player.

Can't believe this is coming round already. Is there a list of entrants to date anywhere?

Re: London Chess Classic 2012
Does seem rather odd that. Perhaps The Telegraph don't have a twitter feed!

Re: ECF Office
Matthew you have lost me completely. Could you explain what point/s you are trying to make please? Are you saying that without an ECF there would be no friction amongst chessplayers and everyone would suddenly become very positive. Such that English chess would be better all round. If so on what do ...

Re: ECF Office
I think I see what Paul is getting at. Although in practice it would be difficult i.e. time consuming and therefore costly to do, if it were possible to break down the office expenses to their constituent parts by core activity then people would think in terms of those activities. Then people might ...

Re: The fine form continues!
The Silman endgame book is excellent. I like the way it is split into sections of what is necessary at each level of play. Nicky would have all the work of selecting what to look at done for him. A big time saver.

Re: Warwickshire Open Chess Champs 2012 : Prizes
Thanks to everyone involved in the organisation, it was a thoroughly enjoyable event. You weren't quite full then. I thought you might be over subscribed and wasn't sure I'd get in. I'll try and enter earlier next time to make sure.

Re: Junior Chess Clubs
The Leamington one is a good one for you to go to. There should be quite a lot of juniors and if the weather is nice there is a good park over the road to run around in at lunch time.

Re: Junior Chess Clubs
John Had you thought of entering a few weekend congresses with your son. There is the Warwickshire Open on 3rd and 4th March at Arden School Solihull coming up. Then there is the Birmingham League rapidplay tournament in Quinton Birmingham on 25th March. Both are likely to have a fair few juniors an...

Re: 99th British #Chess Championships 2012
That seems a very good idea and could be the first step on the path to more volunteers.
