I was there to present the prizes, and I agree the playing conditions weren’t great. No promises (money is tight as always), but we’ll see if anything can be done for next year.

Dreadful news. I knew Ray for for more than forty years, and had many fine encounters with him over the chess board. He has been taken from us all too soon, and will be sorely missed.
