Re: ECF Council: Issues within Paper C29.12, Challenges for English Chess (in particular,The Development Manager)

It sounds to me that Micha?el Farthing ought to change his name to Mick Cash a union leader getting paid more than the PM & holding the commuters & other travellers to ransom. Those that are attending. Or is Michael now Hurricane Michael 2018. I'll save the weather issues up for other posts. Anyway ...

Re: Is a mutual flag fall a draw?

Some people may get a bit wrapped up in rules. Not sure of your reasoning not to call your own flag fall if you actually noticed
You lose either way in my opinion.
You have got it right.

Re: Ecf Silver member letter

I agree with Paul on 4. It is the same argument using on schools funding - we get 0.4 percent per pupil extra in 2019/20 & therefore some schools will not be able to pay for pay rises or other cost increases (work together on collaborative savings). I am not expecting that there is any good news in ...

Re: Chess Names in Robert Ludlum Novels

Back to 'Funeral in Berlin' the book. The chapter headings contain quotes from the rules of chess. I doubt the dialogue is in the book as it is one-person narrative from a spy. The film has Justin's quote from Stok then Harry's response Watching these films - it is best watching Ipcress file, Funera...

Re: DIV 3 North..more teams wanted..

At least with the low number of teams those getting promoted will be the best in 3N.

Enjoy whether it snows or not.

Re: Ecf Silver member letter

Nick dinosaurs cannot speak. Way before right & wrong became human concepts. God 1 - 0 Man (Genesis). What I'm taking exception to are any 'old farts' (Will Carling captaining his country) on Council that are holding back English Chess. Others may just be 'grumpy old men'. There appear to be far mor...

Re: Ecf Silver member letter

Nexus is old news & John Is not standing for election. The Nexus was the Star Trek movie with 2 captains of the Enterprise & great villain. Too many dinosaurs making comments. But then again I was not aware that Michael is a member of the Governance Committee. And I think I'm up to doing a bit of co...

Re: Ecf Silver member letter

Thanks. I did not get a chance to ask Roger Emerson on 1st October as his game was one of the last to finish. I'm impressed with Tim too but then again he has put his points across & I would not want to seem biased against the North. I'm not sure where the anti-CSC is coming from. Yes I play for the...

Re: Touch Move question

Clumsiness with pieces happens with adults too. Any reason not to give a warning - tell them to be more careful & if it happens again - explain what the consequences are. Junior tournaments are very difficult so you can end up with lots of complaints. My experience is some younger players pick up th...

90 seconds has been standard for as long as I can remember. I have no complaints on that part of the ECF service whoever answers is fantastic & thanks.

Re: Ecf Silver member letter

Lets be realistic. If ECF have not got a 3 year contract with a payment provider it cannot offer a 3 year membership service. Your local council cannot offer you a service to pay your council tax 3 years in advance either. Or other services. Comparison to a magazine subscription is not the point. I ...

None of the novelists here.

I recognise Justin's quote from the book. It was probably in the film too.

Re: Batumi Olympiad

Or is it a Nexus? Well done.

Can we have a vote or the players at least have a vote ranking of arbiters.

Excellent for referees in football association matches at a levels of the game.

Re: Ecf Silver member letter

My fide or ECF is only grading & maybe a tax. The other costs are organisational to those running chess. Too much political speculation which also seem to be jollies in Fide. Whilst those that have been in Batami & play locally I think you will be pleased of another Kingston v Surbiton match on 29th...

Too late now but do let us know which tournament so some of us may want to avoid in future.
