Re: The world's most handsome GM?

Yasser Seirawan was once highly rated in this department, or so I am reliably informed anyway. Are you restricting your request to gentlemen GMs or would you like to include lady GMs? I believe that there was a web site which specialised in the latter which had nought to do with the aforementioned ...

Re: The world's most handsome GM?

I'm sure Kevin Spraggett would love to be so listed.

Take care when inspecting his web site.

By the way, re the above: I would say that 3. Qd1 is a bit of a joke.

White should be playing for something!
Would it be enough of a joke to be defaulted by Stewart Reuben?

I am so glad that I do not yet show as deceased. I will however remain inactive, probably for ever.
I'd like to be shown as inactive but I suspect I need to become deceased first?

Perhaps if I read my own name in a Times obituary notice my status would change?

Come on then - show us the card with you on it ...
Presumably one of a pair in a 54 card but not 52 card pack.

Re: Swiss Manager Question

What sequence of Tie Breakers (one is allowed up to five) would you use for a Team Event?

Thanks for your help.

Re: Active/Inactive/Deceased/Merged ?

Deceased is for cases where a results officer has informed us of the player's death May I take this opportunity to inform you of the passing of Ron Crow and Gordon Ironside, Peter Davey, Cyril Winter, John Purkiss and Martin Harvey all of whom are shown as "Active". The most recent of these was Cyr...

Inactive is for players who with no active rating ask for their profile to be removed.
Can we observe any players designated as "Inactive"? I've not found any examples.
Do they still appear on the list?

I believe that this is the paradox I was alluding to.

Re: Active/Inactive/Deceased/Merged ?

In fairness to ECF and its grading/rating officers through the ages, they cannot be expected to trawl through every obituary notice in the land, especially as people with similar names might be wrongly marked as deceased. Many players may not get an obituary notice. If a club or individual is sure ...

Re: Active/Inactive/Deceased/Merged ?

On the basis of the above can anyone explain what is meant by Active or Inactive in this context? Can one be Inactive but not deceased? I suspect that "Active" just means that the player has played a rated or graded game of chess at some time in the lifetime of the rating system and its eatlier gra...

Active/Inactive/Deceased/Merged ?

At Crowthorne Chess Club we had a member called Ron Crow who passed way around 15 years ago. His last rating was in July 2008. https://www.ecfrating.org.uk/v2/new/player.php?ECF_code=109161L Clearly he has not been an ECF member for many, many years. He is listed as having a status of "Active". On t...
