Re: Congress Questionnaire

Thanks Adam, Good points raised , one of the things I am putting forward is to check through old mailing lists and contact those who didn't enter this year, but have previously, and find out their reasons .I have already collected quite a bit of information , some of it from players who have entered...

Re: Congress Questionnaire

Gavin,
One of the main arguments I have come across is not the venue itself , it is the location -food for thought I think :!:

Re: Congress Questionnaire

Sean, I agree fully with what you are saying, have already started canvassing those who I know have not entered, and to some extent have pinpointed recurring themes. My intentions at the weekend are to find out from players why their compatriots may not have entered and also to find out what 'plus p...

Re: Congress Questionnaire

Jack , Stewart Thank you for your input. As of this morning the congress was down by 25 entries on last year( which was 21 down on 'break-even'). So as at this moment 46 down , the sooner interaction starts between organisers and players the better. I will be making enquiries during the congress as ...

Re: Congress Questionnaire

Good afternoon Sean The questionnaire is aimed at the players, aiming to find out what they like or dislike about a particular congress. I think they should be able to take it away(if picked up at the congress) and fill it in at their leisure , also people who didn't enter but received the questionn...

Congress Questionnaire

As a follow up to the 'death of a congress' article I posted I am in the process of putting together a questionnaire for congress secretaries. The idea being that the questionnaire be available at the congress itself , with mailshots, via e-mail and hopefully on line. The idea being that the relevan...

Re: Death of a congress ?

Roger/Colin The 3 games on a Saturday seems worth looking at will bring it up with the relevant people. As you say reducing the cost of staying over by 50% may prove to be a good move. Many years ago I seem to remember a lot of the tournaments I played around the Birmingham area had this format, as I...

Re: Death of a congress ?

David Thank you for your input. I e-mailed all of the local clubs yesterday and pointed out the situation.I must admit I had a very good response from the secretaries, who on the whole were very supportive and pledged to push the issue to their members. Will report back if there is a significant res...

Re: Death of a congress ?

Michael As I have stated, I have nothing to do with the organising, I have taken it on myself to 'stick my oar in' for want of a better phrase. I am just trying to glean as much advice as possible so that I can present it to the relevant people and maybe avert the demise of the congress. Your commen...

Re: Death of a congress ?

Sebastian You are right ,entries have been dropping gradually for years , unfortunatley this year has seen a massive drop off, maybe due to the financial situation across the country. As for the stars barred situation, this could certainly have some bearing as I know the reduction from 4 sections to...

Re: Death of a congress ?

I am thinking about putting together a questionnaire to put around the clubs to get the feedback and hopefully remedy whatever we can. I do know that the cost of parking at Exeter is a big problem. If anyone has any ideas on what to put in this questionnaire, please let me know, the more problems we...
