Re: League Champions!
In the Blackpool and Fylde League, the team captains put match reports in our web system http://www.popmalc.org.uk/sc/?q=node/77/home commenting on how the games went which creates a bit of interested because people have a look to see what happens in the other matches. Our press secretary then colla...

Re: Best Disputes
This could have been a good dispute from the local league, but I believe it was resolved amicably: 1) Home team captain phones away team secretary to ask why their team has not yet arrived. 2) Away team arrive late, match starts .. 3) Home team captain's mobile phone rings, away team claim the game ...

Re: Membership Services
I would like the ECF to provide a standardised league management website template. This would compute league and knock out results and compile a league table. It would be able to provide team and player results for viewing and would automatically submit to the ECF for grading. ....... John Upham ha...

Re: Preston Chess Congress
There was a sainsbury's carrier bag containing a grey addidas hoody top with red trim and 2 blank score sheets folded up small left behind near the open/major, if anyone has lost it (the top that is - presumably they didn't want the blank score sheets)

Chess Table and Ivory Chess Set
I am advertising this on behalf of someone whose late father owned it. Please PM me if interested and I will forward their email address to you. We have a wonderful McIntosh chess table (commissioned for him for his 60th birthday) made of Rosewood and with the chess board beautifully inlayed and a C...

Re: Dates of birth and privacy
This is great. It gave me the idea that one could map each move of a chess game onto the ascii character set. If a1=0 and h8=63 then a full move can become a 128 bit number. For example e2 is 4+1*8 and e4 is 4+3*8 which add up to 40 which is a (. My attempts to find hidden messages in chess games ha...

Re: Regular updating
I don't know that. As the Surrey Border League Grader, and the person who did the January grading for the Hillingdon & District League and the City of London Rapidplay League, I know that this software, as of mid-January, had no ECF grading capability at all. The data is held in the website databas...

Re: Enter Your Local Chess Congress Online!
With that said I've set up my entry form emails to automatically submit via Outlook (using VBA) the details of the email into MS excel which adds each entry into a small database. I can then ensure grades are correct (V-Look up) and Membership discounts are credible (once I get a list of member nam...

Re: Enter Your Local Chess Congress Online!
I have done online entry for Preston for 3 years now. It was up to about 30% of entries last year. Mostly it works quite well, although there are always a few people who seem to have trouble with PayPals web site and give up and post it instead (or enter multiple times, enter the wrong section, forg...

The only picture I have so far of the action is now on the web site (as are the results)

There were also some photographs taken of the prize winners which I would be able to get hold of
