I think if he read the posts on the relevant section here it would be straight forward

I'm tempted to answer he should resign

Re: OLYMPIAD 2008 :):)

A number of us on here questioned the selection of Conquest, based on his past performances for England However, as Matthew Turner has said, the current British Champion is hard to leave out Maybe he can move to team manger next time, given he has considerable experience of going to Olympiads, and g...

Re: OLYMPIAD 2008 :):)

I don't like the way that Stewart Conquest and Peter Wells (the Team Manager) seem to be perennial choices when there are a lot of people who could do an equally good and in my view better job. Who would make a better team manager? Given the relatively poor finish from both teams, men and women, ha...

Re: OLYMPIAD 2008 :):)

The Dutch clearly do. They have not selected their two highest-rated players (Tiviakov & Sokolov). On the other hand, Spain have gone a different route (picking Shirov & Kramrakulov). It's an awkward business, even before one starts on Scotland, the USA or, yet more sensitive territory, Israel. As ...

Re: OLYMPIAD 2008 :):)

I see that we are playing Croatia today (a downfloat) but they seemed to have some problems adjusting the live games to the early morning start so I don't even know the composition of the teams. We might finish in the top ten with a good win. Rest day today It is not a bad draw as a couple of the C...

Re: CHESS December 2008 - Pein's editorial

I wonder why Pein thinks Peter Wilson should resign, but not Gerry Walsh?

Richard

You may be right about the stats, but given how long the final game lasted, for which all credit to Gawain, I think we can be disappointed but pleased with the team's effort

I presume Short has a good chance of winning a board 2 medal (his chess has certainly improved since he met me at Liverpool)

Re: How much more incompetence can we afford from ECF?

The lack of any media interest is critical to this. If there were no media interest in tennis, I daresay that Henman and Murray might have been equally wary of playing Davis Cup matches if it seemed incompatible with their wider professional interests (actually, does anyone on this forum have a bet...

Re: Resignation

Maybe we should go for a proposal and change what ever needs changing so that the Presidents post is just that, a figure head position with no voting rights. Maybe we should also consider adding that the President can hold no other position. That sounds like a very good start. Could be a proposal f...
