Re: Election Addresses for 2018 AGM

I thought that byelaw was to protect people from being gazumped by a late submission of an address? I'm not sure there's an issue with a candidate voluntarily 'going first' - I suppose there might be some first mover advantage - but it's probably not GTO correctto do so.

Re: 2018 Abu Dhabi Masters

Normally in the UAE prizes are NOT split - so bucholz cut1 (or2) determines first and all of the money. If you know you have a good tiebreak draws can make sense

Re: DIV 3 North..more teams wanted..

Wokefield - even once is a disaster. It's basically an 8 hour commute each way for the whole team. It worse than asking the London-based players to play in Edinburgh in time terms ...

Re: DIV 3 North..more teams wanted..

North East England is considering entering a 2nd team again - subject to making sure we have sufficient interest and an on-site captain for the team. We'll suss out support over the Summer and see where we get to.

Re: CerebralGym

I'm not sure what your issue is Chris - I know James and thought this looked interesting - there's bound to be some coaching platform following along. These things are always going to happen first in high population, high disposable income areas - how else does it have a chance of making money?

Re: ECF Finance meeting 2018

Yep same discussion eveyr year - why do we feel the need to pay our top players to turn-out for us? What would their expected earnings really be if they weren't playing for us in the Olympiad? and if it's really £4-5k a week, then from the ~£200k they make a year they shouldnt need subbing for this....

Back in the days when junior events were in the morning ... and u could make some cash doing the demo boards in the afternoon ... i used to love the Pein/Lee commentary routines in the afternoon ... would be a shame to lose it altogether - but let's wait for an official answer from someone who knows...
