Still a slight shame. I guess the project 12 team 3N would be something like 3 Manchester teams, 3 Bradford, Jorvik, Bolton, 3C's 2 and then relegation and venue dependent. Maybe 4 Manchester.

I guess with it being an APA trying to avoid all the inter squad derbies wouldn't be a problem for the arbiters :)

I suppose that in theory half the Manchester/Bradford teams could go and play in the Midlands instead, as long as people came up North to fill gaps.

The 2021-2022 season doesn’t need 11 rounds, because of using the Swiss system; so the risk of losing a weekend becomes less relevant

I think September is too early; they want to get the test events out of the way before fully committing to booking hotels for a September start; you would need to book now before seeing the results of these events

Would it not be a good idea to start in say September rather than the usual November, then if a weekend or 2 has to be cancelled over the winter it will be no problem to finish the season?
You do want to be careful before jolting the calendar around that much. There'll be a lot of other events trying to use those weekends.

Might well catch some people intending to play but still on holiday, even.

All 'tbc' (which the website clearly says), and likely to change.

Interesting, the Div 3N venues remain the same, the Div 3C have 4 in Leamington Spa, plus Daventry

I suspect Shropshire will move from 3N to 3C as a result

For some 3S teams and players, there won't be much to choose between those and Milton Keynes/Maidenhead. I'd rather expected 3C to have Telford as one of the venues.

I suppose in choosing Div 3 Central you should factor in that you may possibly find yourself playing in Telford next season

Actually speaking as a northerner, the Milton Keynes venue isn't too much different from Daventry in journey times (about 15-20 mins); also if I was getting the train to Long Buckby I have connected at Milton Keynes which is only 1hr 45 mins from Manchester and relatively frequent

Ah good, the November one doesn't clash with the FIDE Grand Swiss (the previously listed date did).

In which case, you could presumably switch to 3S if you wanted

Wouldn't a team qualifying from this seasons swiss in 3C or 3S have to remain in the region they qualified from for the 2022-23 APA?
