So that's one promotion to Division 2, or more likely a reprieve from relegation, presumably for The Rookies and five promotions to Division 3 .
Top 5 named in Division 4 were
relegated teams
Shropshire & Friends 5 18½
MK Phoenix 2 3 23 (not entered)
finishers last season
Celtic Tigers 2 14 37
Wotton Hall 14 36
She Plays To Win Lionesses 13 35½
CSC/Kingston 2 13 34½

It could be that some of the non-entrants have, despite the clear deadline from 4NCL, failed to heed these instructions. I assume they will retain their place if they re-enter quickly before vacancies are offered to other teams. I have no idea if there is a waiting list of prospective entrants.

That might be difficult to justify after refusing a slightly late entry from e2e4 chess a few years ago.

The number of teams has risen slightly to 69; I am presuming that two new teams - "The Audible Checks" and "ToBeDecided" are the additions. The latter name is probably whilst they think up a more suitable title - Desert Penguins having already been taken.

Now 72 - in come KJCA Kings, Shropshire & Friends plus an extra Celtic Tigers team.
Perhaps Jack can tell us what has happened to West is Best which had 30 registered players last year?

I think that makes Manchester despite a couple of name changes the last survivors of the original Div 3 North

That's sad, we played them in our first match (there were Bradford A & B, Jorvik, Holmes Chapel, Aigburth and Cheddleton 2 that first season 2010/11)

One of their players told me they had changed team name but didn't know what it was. Reading Jack's subsequent post though sounds fairly ominous.

Am I right that we were told there would be a maximum of 80 teams?
I was wondering if 72 was the final number, given the original deadline has closed

As I understand it the closing date for current teams to renew was 16th August - indeed there was a clock on the 4NCLwebsite counting down to the deadline. Any new teams/additional teams will now be given the opportunity to fill the vacancies up to a maximum of 80.

Ah, I am told we are now The Audible Checks, which clears that up.
