I stayed in the bar until late in the hope that the division 3 results would appear but sadly still nothing. £4.95 for a pint ensured I didn't drink too muchSean Hewitt wrote:Slacker.LozCooper wrote: Yes, I posted them to the other thread, still waiting for Division 3 though.

Nope, but there was little sign of anything after the power went off and bad light stopped play at about 12.30. Apparantly play restarted shortly after I left the buildingSean Hewitt wrote:Any sign of the Div 3 results?

Re: 4NCL Northern - Round 7
A number of boards were moved closer to windows, or into rooms with more natural light. Ten minutes or so later, the power came back. The delay due to bad light forced a change to the move rate. Instead of 40/2, 20/1, G/30 it became 40/2, G/60. This is whilst play is in progress !LozCooper wrote:Apparantly play restarted shortly after I left the building
Re: 4NCL Northern - Round 7
Northern League Rd 8
My absolutely unofficial results from the Jamboree round are:
2 match points (game points where known)
Bradford 'A'
Spirit of Atticus (4)
Jorvik (5)
Aigburth
0 match points
Bradford 'B'
Chedderton 2
Holmes Chapel
Manchester
Final League Table positions
15 Bradford 'A'
14 Spirit of Atticus
09 Holmes Chapel
08 Chedderton 2
08 Jorvik
06 Bradford 'B'
02 Aigburth
02 Manchester
Congratulations to Bradford 'A'. They were the strongest team, seeded 1st, and apart from one stumble, played well throughout. My team, Spirit of Atticus, were pleased to run them close - not bad for a team seeded 5th. The 'champions of the North' title fittingly turned on the outcome of the game between the two strongest players, John Carleton and Ben Hague. Ben won that game convincingly. Any other result, and Spirit of Atticus would be 'champions'. At the other end of the table, Manchester climbed off the bottom after their win v. Aigburth. But their joy lasted less than 24 hours. Aigburth performed well in the jamboree to move above them again.
On to Hinckley Island!

Re: 4NCL Northern - Round 7
BUCA seems to have won all the matches it's played since I stopped playing for them.
Re: 4NCL Northern - Round 7
My unofficial top of div 3 table after round 8 is
Team Pts Gp
Brown Jack 13 33
Wessex 2 13 31.5
Celtic Tigers 1 12 29.5
Oxford 2 12 28
Anglian Avengers 2 11 30.5
KJCA Kings 11 27.5
e2e4.org.uk 2 11 26.5
Braille Chess Assoc 10 29
FCA Solutions 1 10 28.5
The Rookies 9 27.5
Warwickshire Select 2 9 27
Gloucestershire Gambits 9 23
Sussex Smart Controls 9 22.5
The Full Ponty 8 25.5
Hackney 8 24
Bristol 2 7 20.5
Of course, Bradford and Atticus then parachute in at the top on 15 and 14 points respectively.
We will have to wait and see how they fair in the final weekend of course, though on paper they appear to have acquired more points than similar rated Div 3 teams. It is possible that early fears that Northern teams would have an advantage may have been well founded. If so, this will need to be addressed for next season I think.
