Live Games - Round 7

Post by David Clayton » Thu Mar 07, 2013 9:19 pm

Suggestions for Live Games folks.

Starting of with these two suggestions:

Cambridge Uni 1 - e2e4.org.uk 1
Barbican 4NCL 2 - WGHK 2

Actually it is hard to think of any other first division match which is even in contention. All six other matches are between sides that are destined to play in different pools. Since that leaves a match to spare, it may be worthwhile to make sure that all the teams headed for the relegation pool have had a match already on the live boards, but I think they have.

So you may want to look at the second division. There are at least two matches between teams which are both likely to be in the promotion pool (Oxford v Wessex and 3Cs v White Rose 2), so there will at least be genuine match importance here.

I think seeing division 3 would be not really worth it, division 2 top of table as Jonathan said would be better.

The promotion games in the final weekend of division 2 and 3 would be nice to see but I think for the most part people want to see the masters in action.

Well, the real masters - grandmasters and maybe even some so-called "supergrandmasters" - will descend in the final weekend, with the likelihood that division one will completely overshadow division 2. Round seven seems to be a good moment to select a second division match, in the absence of an obvious third choice from division one.

Hmmmm in Div 2 if Poisoned Pawns crush the spirit of Atticus and Oxford crush Wessex then Poisoned Pawns would go through. So maybe one of these two games?

Another suggestion for the live boards for Round 7 - the final contest in the whole 4NCL involving two teams on a 100% score - Anglian Avengers vs Bradford Knights A

(Of course this suggestion is completely impartial)

In the first season of 4NCL North, I remember Spirit of Atticus being on the live boards in a promotion clash in the final weekend, not sure a Div 3 match was featured last year

Would be good to see the possible Div 3 decider featured in round 7
