Re: Division Three South 2018-19
There seems to be substantial comment on every other division but nothing on Div Three South at all.
Anyway here is how I view the positions going into Round Seven
Division Three Pool 'A' - Any of the top six teams could still theoretically qualify for the Promotion pool; Cambridge Univ 2 and CSC2 have already booked their places in the Relegation Pool
Division Three Pool 'B' is a lot clearer with Surbiton & Oxford 2 in the Promotion pool whilst Iceni 2, The Rookies & Sussex Martlets destined for the relegation pool. The other three teams fight it out in Round Seven to decide their positions.

CSC1 are looking at knocking Surbiton off top spot in round 7 which will put us in an excellent position.
We are also looking at getting CSC2 & also in Four CSC3 out to play. April is not far away!

If anyone wonders if the league is competitive, all 4 of the promotion pool matches were poised at 2.5 - 2.5 with a final game in play!

To update this:-
Qualifiers from Group A were ;- Check Innmates 1 (10); Kings Head (10), Fermented Sharks (8); Iceni 1 (7)
Relegation Pool :- Leeds Old Boys (7); MK Phoenix (6) join CSC2 & Cambridge Univ 2.
The board difference between Iceni and Leeds OBs was 20-19; Leeds manage to carry forward three losses into the relegation pool!
Qualifiers from Group B were :- Surbiton, CSC1, Oxford 2 & Rhyfelwyr Essyllwg who all finished with nine points. Remaining teams into relegation pool.

They seem to have paid a heavy price for two board defaults in the preliminary section. They were docked two half game points for this. If they'd had players for these two games and those players had lost, they'd have been level with Iceni on game points, and, by my reckoning, would have gone into the promotion pool on tie-break. Instead of being in the relegation pool with 0 points carried forward, they'd have been in the promotion pool with 6 points carried forward.

I like this current league system as it adds some dynamism to proceedings, but this case highlights it's negative aspects. It feels very harsh that Leeds get relegated, they certainly were not one of the worst 4 teams.Ian Thompson wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 10:32 am

Definitely not, with 50% over the season as a whole (4 wins, 3 draws, 4 losses) despite finishing 15th out of 16.Nick Burrows wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 12:16 pmIt feels very harsh that Leeds get relegated, they certainly were not one of the worst 4 teams.
That might be compared with Cambridge University 2 who managed 4 wins and 7 losses, but avoided relegation.

Hello Ian. Thanks for the sympathetic assessment of our season. Actually, it's even worse than you say. Had we edged into the Promotion Pool we would actually have carried forward 7 points and been leading it, having beaten Kings Head, Check Inn Mates 1 and Fermented Sharks, who finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the final table, and drawn with Iceni 1. Thus we scored 7/8 against the teams who finished above us and 0/6 against the teams who finished below us. Of course we only have ourselves to blame.Ian Thompson wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 10:32 am... and Leeds University Old Boys get relegated.Neil Graham wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 9:50 amQualifiers from Group A were ;- Check Innmates 1 (10); Kings Head (10), Fermented Sharks (8); Iceni 1 (7)

Impressive, seeing as one only carries forward the results of three matches.Mark Taylor wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2019 1:32 pmHad we edged into the Promotion Pool we would actually have carried forward 7 points and been leading it
