Can't see any results from Gatwick yet. Though the advert space at the website did try to persuade me to vote 'Leave' in the European referendum. Bit depressing, like the old lady on the bus who whispered to me in a loud voice that she was voting leave because she didn't want more migrants coming into the country (from Turkey, specifically). She then said all the old people would vote to stay in because of some scare story about pensions. Are there any specifically chess-orientated European referendum arguments? How would chess be affected by a Brexit? (No, I'm not going to ask this in the off-topic thread, because it is not off topic!).

Ah, results are up now. I see my Richmond teammate Mike Healey has downed the girl wonder. Great result for him, but a shock to Akshaya's live rating. Mike joins Richard Bates, Mark Hebden and Pete Wells in the joint lead on 4/5.

Despite the difference in FIDE ratings, in ECF grading terms a 201 lost to a 200. Not that that helps her rating wise

No. That's because Norway and Switzerland, while not members of the EU, are bound by the same treaties as EU members in this respect. It can, on the other hand, be difficult to get players from Russia or China into this country.

That's something of an abstract argument though isn't it? We should vote Leave, so that it will be easier to sign agreement with countries like China and Russia and therefore get players for tournaments. Where is your evidence for that
