Chess Columns...

Post by John Upham » Fri Aug 07, 2009 9:18 am

The following problem was found in the August 2nd, 2009 edition of The Mail on Sunday
Circling the king is a game often played at the end of chess match. The object is to quickly trap the royal enemy. Here, White is to move and mate in three. Hist first move is one small step for a foot soldier, but leaves the king no choice other than the trap. Can you follow the route?

Chessboard challenges are taken from the Mate Studies program, available through www.chessok.com
In my opinion, this is totally useless study (unless you are a studies fan) and not worth printing. :(
